A little birdie just drew my attention to this delightful patent drink recipe device from the 1930s:

At this time, I don’t know whether any Cocktail Oracles were ever manufactured, but the inventor was a seminal figure in computer science at IBM, and his data processing inventions are at the foundation of contemporary software, including this very forum. Some background on Luhn (mainly in that context) can be found in [this IEEE article](https://spectrum.ieee.org/tech-history/silicon-revolution/hans-peter-luhn-and-the-birth-of-the-hashing-algorithm).

My understanding is that an extensive article on the Cocktail Oracle itself is forthcoming. Meanwhile, you can peruse the patent [here](https://patents.google.com/patent/US2011722).
