I was wondering if anyone has tried any of the bottles by www.sentiaspirits.com ?
The Sentia bottles are RTD and seem to be plant-based and strongly flavored “like a dark rum,” but the science parent of the company, www.gabalabs.com, says it is developing a synthetic product ingredient called Alcarelle with the same effect that they say will be “odorless, tasteless and colorless.” Apparently, it is currently going through US FDA approval.
Was just curious for a Sentia review from a more “cocktail-focused” person, not just some casual drinker who praises it up-and-down for saving their Dry January.
Seems like an interesting take on alcohol alternatives, but more specifically focused on drinks and the GABA-based neurological social effects of ethanol than something more broad like CBD, or just the flavor like most NA spirits today.
And I can’t know for sure, but I would imagine this Alcarelle won’t have the mechanical properties of ethanol (lowering of melting point for chilling and dilution), but this might ultimately be a good candidate for the freezer cocktail. Or perhaps, the addition of another ingredient like propylene glycol might mimic (at least to a smaller degree) this mechanical effect and retain our ritual of stirring and shaking.
